Tata Power to invest Rs 3,000 cr in TN for solar cell & module
The company signed a memorandum of understanding on Monday with the Tamil Nadu government in the presence of the chief minister M.K. Stalin at the first port of appeal for investors of the Tamil Nadu – Investment Conclave.
The memorandum of understanding describes the commitment made by both parties to stimulate the transition and use of clean energy in the state.According to Tata Power, investment in the factory will be made over a period of 16 months and will create more than 2,000 employment possibilities directly or indirectly, the majority of them being women employed.
“The new production installation of Tata Power Solar is set up with the support and assistance of the Tamil Nadu government. This will help meet the growing demand for clean energy solutions in the country in addition to providing opportunities of use, “said Praveer Sinha, CEO and MD, Power Tata.
The new Tamil Nadu factory will incorporate mono-perc bifacial technology (passive transmitter and rear cell) with future n-type tunnel oxide technology (TOPCON) and produce high power modules with advanced efficiency.For the smooth navigation of the equipment, the installation will implement autonomous mobile robots (AMR), which use lasers and cameras to transport parts.
The installation of the Tamil Nadu of Tata Power Solar will be the company’s second manufacturing unit after Bengaluru. As one of the largest solar manufacturers in India, the company operates a world class manufacturing unit in Bengaluru, with a production capacity of 635 MW of modules and 500 MW of cells.
